Our Story

PASADENA SCOTS THROUGH THE YEARS

2006

The year we began! The Pasadena Scots started our journey under the leadership of Jennifer Febre, our founding Pipe Major.

2007

Have pipes, will travel! Our band brought our music and Southern California goodwill to Pasadena’s Sister City in China, the Xicheng District of Beijing.

2008

The Pasadena Scots have always had the drive to improve. There’s no better way to do that than by participating in the Piping Hot Summer Drummer school in British Columbia, Canada hosted by piping legend Jack Lee.

2009

Our inaugural trip to the home of the bagpipes! Our band competed in the World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland where we placed 6th in Grade 4B. An incredible and invaluable piping experience!

2010

Since our band is based out of Southern California, it only makes sense we’d go Hollywood. We fired up the pipes and drums to record music on the motion picture soundtrack for How to Train Your Dragon.

2011

We competed for the second time in the World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland but this time as a Grade 3 band.

We got our kicks by hosting the Pipes & Sticks on Route 66 Concert in Pasadena. The prestigious event featured piping legends Willie McCallum,
Angus MacColl, Stuart Liddell and two of the greatest drummers of all time, Jim Kilpatrick and Mike Cole.

The Pasadena Scots also got into the holiday spirit when we recorded with Rod Stewart for his PBS television special Merry Christmas, Baby.

2019

Bagpipes on ice! During the celebration around St. Patrick’s Day, the Pasadena Scots were invited to play the national anthem at Staples Center for a National Hockey League game between the Los Angeles Kings and Florida Panthers.

A couple members of our band are actual rocket scientists. Employed at Pasadena’s NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), they were asked to play the pipes and drums as part of the official release ceremony of the 50th Anniversary Moon Landing stamp by the US Postal Service.

We competed at one of our usual games, the Pleasanton Highland Games in Northern California.
