Mission

The Pasadena Scottish Pipes & Drums is a non-profit group whose purpose is to entertain and educate the public about Celtic music and culture. The band wears the official tartan of the State of California.

Instruction

As a community-based organization, the band offers instruction in bagpiping and drumming
to people of all ages and backgrounds. A planned youth scholarship program will place special emphasis on teaching children.

Performances

The band performs at public and private events, including parades, commemorations, weddings and parties. Beckham Grill, Pasadena's popular British restaurant, hosts our regularly scheduled annual celebrations:
  • January - Robert Burns dinner
  • April - National Tartan Day
  • August - The Edinburgh Festival tribute
  • November - The restaurant's anniversary dinner

Competitions

The band competes at Western United States Pipe Band Association sanctioned events throughout California and Nevada. The new competition season begins in February at the Queen Mary Scottish Festival in Long Beach. Check our band website for the entire season's events. In 2008, the band hopes to travel to Scotland to compete in the World Championships.
